THIS Is Donald Trump's First Tweet As The New President-Elect
In one of the biggest upsets in American
political history, Donald Trump won a truly historic victory in the U.S.
presidential election.
Trump will now be the 45th president of
the United States.
A success that was only part of a bigger,
crushing victory for the Republican Party, which retained the House and
maintained control of the Senate.
Trump tweeted that this was "such a
beautiful and important win" adding that it's time for the nation "to
come together as one united people."
He added that "The forgotten man and
woman will never be forgotten again. We will all come together as never
before."
The White House also issued a statement
that President Obama plans to publicly address the election results, and invite
the president-elect to the White House on Thursday to discuss handing over
power.
A statement by the White House read:
"Ensuring
a smooth transition of power is one of the top priorities the President
identified at the beginning of the year and a meeting with the President-elect
is the next step."
On both sides of the aisle, pundits
suggested that Trump hadn't even hoped to win the election, that he was
interested in establishing a base of support for profitable post-race
enterprises.
Whether or not the pundits were correct,
he is now our President-Elect and we're going to need to come together and deal
with it.
Of course, now he'll be looking to build
a team that can work together to implement his ideas.
How do you feel about that?
