5 Things Everyone Should Talk About On Their First Date
First dates can be nerve-wracking. What do you wear?
Will you live up to your online photos? What the hell do you talk about without
sounding like a stupid fool?
I personally love being nervous and anxious and excited
when I go on a first date. Meeting new people is so exciting especially when
you're almost primed to try and find out if you're going to love getting
intimate with this person or not.
But sometimes nerves can get in the way, and you'll
unfortunately find yourself talking ad nauseam about your childhood rock
collection.
Thankfully, these five pointers will help guide you towards successful first date conversations.
1.Discussing Travel is a billion times better than discussing movies.
Anyone and everyone
loves movies, all right. But do you really want to hate your first date when
they tell you with a straight face that 'Transformers 2' is a good film?
Studies show that couples who discuss movies on the first date are half as
likely to want to meet up with couples who talked about where they traveled to.
2.How you talk is just as important as what you talk about.
Always add to what the
person is saying but don't overpower a conversation by talking all the time.
Try to make it it a give and take.
3.Don't be afraid to divulge some secrets.
Any introspective and
emotionally powerful memories that you'll share will often come from a place of
honesty that affect you on some real levels. This'll usually translate into a
more memorable and meaningful conversation that simply talking about the time
you were falsely accused of farting in pre-calc.
4.Talking about more controversial stuff will nail you a second
date over PC topics every time.
Whether we like to
admit it or not, we're drawn to controversy and being emotionally invested in a
date is better than spending an entire evening exchanging pleasantries until it
gets awkward and you're both bored out of your mind.
5.If you want to know if you're going to get laid, ask them if
they like the taste of beer.
According to OKCupid,
people who like the taste of beer are 60% more likely to sleep with someone on
the first date regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
